Growing In Prayer 2

Protecting Unity

Bible reading: John 17:1-5

  1. Jesus’ prayer for Himself
  2. Jesus’ prayer for His eleven disciples
  3. Jesus’ prayer for all believers (the church)

Jesus’ greater purpose was for the Father to be glorified.

Looking into the darkness of the cross, Jesus obeyed so that the Father would be honoured, glorified.

The evil one seeks to bring disunity.

Manifested unity points others to Jesus.

What do you need to protect unity?

  1. Personally
    • Give up your rights?
    • Let go of your expectations
    • forgive?
    • love when it’s hard?
  2. As a church
    • Think through how this will bear witness to those who are watching you interact together
